South Korean video game developer Krafton has announced that the India version of its popular game PUBG will be called Battlegrounds Mobile India. The game, which will be available only in India, will provide a multiplayer gaming experience on the mobile phone.

This comes after the original version of the game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile had been banned in India in September following a ban on Chinese apps. – PUBG was published by Chinese internet firm Tencent in India. Following this, PUBG Corporation had said it would no longer authorise the game to Tencent Games in India.While the company has still not said when the game would be launched, it has revealed the new logo today. “Battlegrounds Mobile India will release with exclusive in-game events like outfits and features and will have its own esports ecosystem with tournaments and leagues. The game will launch as a free-to-play experience on mobile devices,” said Krafton in a press release.

In November, PUBG Corporation had announced that it will set up an Indian subsidiary and launch a new India specific version of the game. The company, along with its parent firm Krafton, would invest $100 million as it seeks to revive business in the country which is the largest market for PUBG in terms of number of users.with over 175 million downloads — about a quarter of the global downloads — according to SensorTower data.

The investment by Krafton, the South Korean parent company and PUBG Corporation will be the largest by a Korean firm in India outside of the manufacturing sector.The company will have a pre-registration period before launch. “Krafton will collaborate with partners to build an esports ecosystem while bringing in-game content regularly, starting with a series of India specific in-game events at launch, to be announced later,” said the company.

Since Apex Legends is being developed by Tencent, there is a huge possibility that the game might not get launched in India due to the Indian government’s stance against Chinese apps. If the game is not launched in India, it could come up as a huge blow to the expectations of players who are eagerly waiting for the launch of Apex Legends Mobile.

In case you come across an Amazon link claiming to provide free gifts to 100 random users, do not click on it. According to a new report, the link is fake and only collects the user’s personal information.

When a user clicks on the link, they are redirected to a page that looks a lot like Amazon. The page claims to offer random gifts to 100 random users on account of Amazon’s 30th anniversary, including the Huawei Mate 40 Pro 5G. For the uninitiated, the smartphone never made it to India as it does not come with GMS. 

Users are required to take part in a survey and fill in personal details like their name, address, etc. However, when NewsMeter got into the minute details, it was found that the page is fake. The report states that despite the notice of 100 winners, the survey could be taken over and over again. At the end of every round, it followed the same pattern and a winner was announced at every second chance of the trial.

It also asked users to share the link on various WhatsApp groups. We have seen a similar pattern carried in various scams. Amazon denied hosting any such survey and asked users to be aware of such links and scams. 

It is best to avoid clicking on such links. They offer nothing in return and only collect your personal information. The best way to verify authenticity is to check the URL and find spelling mistakes.
